June 23rd meeting

Challenging, engaging and enjoyable activities for teaching English

Sunday, 23rd June 2019 1:30pm – 4:00pm
Presenter: Paul Shimizu
Paul introduces his session: “I intend to introduce a smorgasbord of ideas which I have developed and borrowed from teachers and students. I will be giving educational, philosophical and psychological reasons and look forward to receiving feedback from participants. It will not be a lecture and nor will it be a computer presentation. It will take the form of a workshop with activities which can be adjusted to suit the entire age range but will be basically aimed at teaching larger groups of students. It will be ‘hands on’, rather than academic, although I believe the ideas put forward do have great educational merit.”

Paul Shimizu is the Publishing Director of Intercom Press and also teaching university classes in the Fukuoka area. Before coming to Japan, he taught mathematics for a number of years in London. He has a publisher’s stand at the annual JALT International Conference.
