Upcoming Meetings for September and October 2020

Greetings everyone it was great to see everyone at our last meeting. Thank you Jean Taylor for your presentation. I hope everyone had a restful break and is staying safe as possible during these chaotic times. I would like to share with you future plans for meetings that will be taking place. The first meeting will take place on Sunday, September 27th. This meeting will take place in Toyohashi and will be a masked ‘face to face’ at ‘Prat’ near Toyohashi Station. This meeting will be divided into two parts:
1:30-2:30: A presentation. Takao Imai has agreed to be the speaker, with the title: “A Consideration on Construal Difference between Japanese and English from the Viewpoint of Educational Adequacy.”

**’Social distancing’ is allowed for with 50% of the usual capacity in that room. Therefore, the maximum amount of people will be limited to about a dozen. As a result, we will restrict this meeting to JALT members only. Please let us know if you would like to join.** ☜(ˆ▿ˆc)

2:30-3:00: Tea/Coffee break (っ^▿^)۶???٩(˘◡˘ )
3:00-4:00: A committee meeting (about one hour) for committee members to talk about future plans and issues for the chapter.

The second meeting will take place on Saturday October 3rd via Zoom. The meeting will take place from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. This will be a joint forum with Aichi University (ELF related), organized by Laura Kusaka with the title: Student Engagement with English as a Lingua Franca. The third meeting will take place on Sunday October 18th via Zoom. The meeting will take from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. This meeting will be with Pearson Publishing support, together with Nagoya and Gifu Chapters. The speakers are Marc Helgeson and Junko Yamanaka. The main speakers are in the afternoon, but speakers suggested by chapters will have a chance in the morning, about 25 minutes each, for each presentation.
