December 10th Meeting Update

I hope everyone is having a great year so far and is ready to start 2024. I am writing to give remind everyone about the following meeting that will take place on December 10th. We look forward to seeing everyone who can attend the meeting. ?≧◉ᴥ◉≦

Date: December 10th from 1:30pm at Room 1 in the Kenkyuukan at Aichi University
Speaker: Eric Hankin
Background: Eric Hankin is a university instructor (Aichi University of Education) and school owner (Good Chance English School) with over 26 years of experience teaching English in Asia. He has been a JALT treasurer for Toyohashi chapter since 2010.

Theme: How to Use Roleplay to Create a Dynamic Class of Motivated Students
It will explore and detail our long-term chapter member Eric Hankin’s success using roleplay in English classes to “turbo teach” –excite and motivate– Japanese students from junior high school to adults of all ages and backgrounds. He will talk about the benefits of roleplay for students, and how teachers can create and facilitate successful improvisations in almost any setting. The presentation will emphasize the pedagogical benefits of using in-class roleplay and provide research insights intertwined with Eric’s own experience and research on the topic. After presenting the benefits of roleplay, Eric will provide an interactive demonstration of a roleplay that has been successful for him. The workshop will conclude with attendees breaking into small groups to construct their own roleplay.
